Singing the Byway

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We stopped at a roadside stand and picked up a bag of fresh cherries to snack on.

A Saturday evening drive along Palisade’s Fruit and Wine Byway, windows down, “What’s Up” pulsing out against the heavy, late-summer monsoon air, a sack of fresh cherries on the console, a trail of pits behind us, marking our route, Mt. Garfield beckoning to be photographed, from yet another angle, every time we make a turn. My teenage daughter and I exchange no more than ten words along the way, but singing the lyrics as best we can, our bond amplifies tenfold.

The pressure! The pressure! This isn’t the way it’s supposed to be. But, on the other hand, I must keep my loyal fans happy. Thanks for reading them all. 🙂
