What did you do on the winter solstice? Were you warm and cozy inside, working, or out playing?
My dog had to get out after five straight days and nights of sleeping on my bed (a 120-hour nap!), so we ended up celebrating the Winter Solstice for a few hours in the great outdoors of Western Colorado.
Nothing like BFF dogs playing in the snow to make you smile. And nothing sillier than a couple of 40-somethings going tubing with one little inner tube. Good times!

Wow nice

Thanks! I didn’t travel too far, but it always seems like a vacation anyway. 🙂

Yap..esp given the beautiful places you visited.

We spent the day getting ready for Christmas. It looks like you had a lot of fun! Great photos!

Thanks! The camera was having a little trouble with so much white and the overcast sky. Fun day though.

I don’t pay attention to the winter solstice. Winter never happens in Phoenix. 😦
Glad you had a great day!

Maybe not the cold, but you get the short days, and I’m sure you’re affected by them, aren’t you? I get lazy and just want to be home. The days are getting longer though, starting TODAY!

Oh goodness yes! I often wonder how I used to live in N. Cali with the constant gray winters. I am very affected by the darkness. I think we’re up to 7:10 a.m.? Ugh.

On our shortest day – yesterday – the sun was rising at 7:30 and setting at 4:54. My second graders write in their weather journals every day so we are always checking The Weather Channel app and that is why I’m so on top of this stuff. 🙂

That’s like Alaska! 😉

Yesterday it was in the 70s here and at my sister’s it got to 83 in the sun. Strange for the first day of winter, even out this a’ way. How I wish for snow again….. 😦
Dec 22, 2013 @ 21:45:42
Yeah, I read in someone’s blog that it was in the 70s in Washington, D.C. That does seem strange. We’re having a long lasting inversion, so snow and cold temps are being held down in our valley.
Dec 22, 2013 @ 21:05:49
And I mean REAL snow.
Dec 22, 2013 @ 21:46:07
I’m sure you’ll get hit. Don’t you always, eventually?
Dec 22, 2013 @ 21:54:47
Not really, if anything ice. But every few to five years we’ll get like 6 plus inches (maybe). Nothing like in the 1980’s when it snowed every year and we got 20something in one go and 18 the year before. I didn’t realize it was supposed to be warm here in comparison to PA. I thought December and winter meant snow wherever you were. I learned though, didn’t take long.
Dec 22, 2013 @ 22:39:55
We’ve had snow on the ground for several weeks. A little unusual. The inversion is keeping it from melting.

What fun for all of you!

Yes, it was. Thank you!
