My mom emailed me a couple of weeks ago. “I’m holding your new book in my hands and it’s just beautiful. I can’t wait to start reading it.”
What?!
I emailed my editor to let her know that others had my book and I hadn’t even seen it yet. She responded immediately, and somewhat sheepishly, and said she’d get a sample copy in the mail right away.
After a bit of a rigmarole (it got sent to the wrong address), I finally have the book.
I must say that, after working on this book for more than five years (I started researching and writing in Spring 2008), I’m a bit over it.
And, it was October 2010 when the publisher contacted me and said they’d like to publish it. Three whole years ago!
Regardless, I felt it was fitting to go out and celebrate, to bring closure to the whole thing.

I am writing a memoir (my story of divorce and letting my girls go and having them come back to me) – not that I would ever expect that to be published…

Congratulations!!! Yay! Finally. 🙂 You should go out every night this week!

It’s hard to know exactly when to celebrate. I sort of have at other points in the last three years. I guess you’re right – I couldn’t have been celebrating for three years straight. 🙂

I was wondering…and shame on Amy and Jim for wondering if they had to read it. When you love someone you offer or just keep your mouth shut. I for one am enjoying it and am SO PROUD! Mom Date: Fri, 1 Nov 2013 19:52:59 +0000 To: beverly_horyza@live.com

I would never expect either one of them to read it. Maybe Amy, at some point in her life, but not right now. I’m reading it – just to make sure it turned out half way decent. 🙂

Wow, congrats! That’s definitely quite something to be proud of…even if you’re already over it. 🙂
